Frequently Asked Question
Q: When our practice transitions from Direct to integrated, will the patient data in CHADIS be lost?
A: During the integration process, we will work with you to add the eCW ID number to your existing CHADIS patients. This will ensure that your patient history is preserved and duplicate patients are not created. Prior to training, we will request a data dump requiring specific fields, so that we can add the eCW patient identifier to all your current CHADIS charts. This is what will be used to transfer results from CHADIS back into eCW.
Q: Will parents have problems clicking the CHADIS button from the eCW portal if they have already used CHADIS Direct?
A: Parents will have no problems clicking the CHADIS button on the portal. They will use their eCW login credentials and look for the CHADIS button. The CHADIS button will only be available if questionnaires are assigned and it’s within the 2-week outlook eCW conducts; ie. the patient must be scheduled in a timeframe where eCW has already notified CHADIS so that questionnaires will be assigned. eCW notifies CHADIS one time per appointment. Parents can continue to use their CHADIS credentials to access their CHADIS account; however, timing is critical as eCW has to have first notified CHADIS in order for the questionnaires to be assigned.
Q: Once we’re integrated, can parents still log in to CHADIS directly to complete questionnaires as usual?
A: Yes, parents with existing CHADIS accounts can complete questionnaires by logging in at www.chadis.com as usual; timing is critical. Also, new parent users will not be able to register at chadis.com, so it is best if ALL parents are encouraged to access to CHADIS via your eCW patient portal.
Q: How do I schedule a patient appointment now that we’re integrated?
A: Patient appointments are scheduled the same as usual in the EHR from the Resource Schedule by selecting the patient and visit type.
Q: Once we’re integrated, how do we enroll patients in CHADIS?
A: Once CHADIS is integrated with eCW, patients are electronically registered via the questionnaire assignment process. Parents and patients will not be able to self-enroll patients, but in the rare case that a patient needs to be enrolled for immediate questionnaire completion, clinical users are able to enroll the patient. The eCW patient ID number must be added to the patient record in CHADIS to ensure that the CHADIS results are returned to eCW. It is not recommended to add patient charts; you should let the integration create the charts.
Q: How do I access CHADIS now that we’re integrated with eCW?
A: Access to CHADIS will be through eCW single sign-on (SSO). A CHADIS button will appear in the Resource Schedule screen and in the Progress Notes screen.
Q: How do I schedule a patient appointment now that we’re integrated?
A: Patient appointments are scheduled the same as usual in the EHR from the Resource Schedule by selecting the patient and visit type. A mapped visit type must be used in order for eCW to trigger a message to CHADIS so that questionnaires can be assigned.
